About Amanda
Amanda’s childhood was spent climbing trees and reading books in her favorite room – her dad’s study. Her dream of becoming a writer was born in that room, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling shelves of award-winning children’s books.
She wrote her first book at age nine. Glassy’s Adventures was printed on a dot-matrix printer, bound in a grey Duo-Tang folder and added to her school library. Amanda hopes to repeat that early publishing success one day.
She never grew out of reading “kid books.” Becoming a mom gave her the perfect excuse to keep reading them – out loud – to her children. Amanda is passionate about the importance of reading aloud to kids. She speaks about it to parenting groups, school communities, and anyone who will listen.
Her short stories have been published in the 2019 “Fantastic Realms” anthology and the 2024 “Sea Gift” anthology.
Amanda Poppe (pronounced “popp-y,” like the flower) lives in Western Australia, where there are very tall Karri trees to climb.
